What began with an average shabbat dinner of ten people, today reaches closer to 40. To have been part of this development and to have been able to contribute to it is a great honor.

Considering the challenges young Jews are currently facing on campuses, Chabad has truly become a second home for myself and many others.

Chabad the Hague was my spiritual home away from home, bringing together young Jews from all walks of life to embrace our religion and heritage.

I was looking for a community where I could meet new people, make friends and celebrate the chagim.

That's exactly what I found at Young Jewish The Hague.

I was born and raised in The Hague, The Netherlands. Having lived in the area my whole life, I was convinced there were only a handful of Jewish students around.

Nevertheless, Rabbi Mendel and Chaya started something beautiful. What started as small Shabbat meals with just a few students quickly grew into something much larger.

Over the years, I’ve seen Young Jewish The Hague transform into a vibrant and welcoming hub of Jewish life, attracting a diverse and growing community of both international and local students and young professionals. The warmth, consistency, and meaningful programming have created a true home away from home for many. It’s inspiring to see how many young people now find connection, tradition, and a sense of belonging through this remarkable organization.

Shalom, The Hague
